Job Summary:

A confidential organization in the metal building industry is seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Senior Design Engineer with extensive experience in pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) systems. This position involves leading complex structural design projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the structural integrity, cost-efficiency, and code compliance of PEMB structures. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong project management abilities, and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the structural analysis and design of complex pre-engineered metal building systems, including hybrid structures and custom applications.

• Act as the technical authority on engineering principles, building codes, and internal design standards.

• Review and approve structural calculations, connection designs, and shop drawings for accuracy and compliance.

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.

• Collaborate with drafting, detailing, project management, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution.

• Interface with clients, architects, and contractors to resolve technical issues and deliver efficient, buildable solutions.

• Assist in developing and optimizing design tools, engineering standards, and quality control processes.

• Stay current on updates to relevant codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI) and emerging industry trends.

• Provide technical support during fabrication and field erection phases as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required); Structural Engineering (SE) license is a plus.

• 7–10 years of structural design experience, with at least 5 years in the pre-engineered metal building sector.

• Expert proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., MBS, STAAD Pro, RISA, SAP2000, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, AISC, AISI).

• Proven track record in managing multiple projects and leading cross-functional teams.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
