Inside Sales Rep – Metals

The Inside Sales position serves as the key point of contact for our customer base and is the primary means by which we establish and maintain customer relationships, introduce products and services into our market, and ensure that customer requirements are fulfilled. It comprises a number of activities including (but not limited to): customer engagement, marketing, pricing, data collection, order entry, freight/logistics, and production scheduling.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes a “Culture of Safety” in all activities.
  • Responsible for selling our products and services to businesses and industrial establishments.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for our customers and maintains customer relationships within their assigned territory.
  • Works in conjunction with Management and Outside Sales to identify new business opportunities, promote growth within existing accounts, and target new products and services to increase the sales and profitability of the Division.
  • Assesses and maximizes the buying potential, profitability, and product and service requirements of customers.
  • Works closely with other departments and teammates within the Division to ensure the efficient operation of their territory and the execution of our collective goals.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels for customer-specific stocking programs.
  • Negotiates pricing on nonstock items with local vendors and other Reliance companies and places purchase orders when necessary to complete a customer’s bill of goods.
  • Reviews daily reports as directed by the Inside Sales Manager to ensure timely production, on-time delivery of open orders, and accuracy of shipped and billed items.
  • Manages customer inquiries by verifying product availability and pricing and returns quotations to customers in a timely manner.
  • Participates in local and regional training opportunities to increase general knowledge of the industry, the Company, competitors, market trends, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 1-5 years of relevant experience of any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities are preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, multiplication, ratios, and proportions to practical situations are required.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers are required.
  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications preferred.
