The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the steel buying and processing requirements of the Memphis plant along with effective management of the overall steel inventory.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Purchasing steel requirements and managing demand;
• Managing all outside processing requirements;
• Develop a mutual working relationship with the steel mills and with any other vendors which supply and process steel for the plant needs;
• Develop an effective information sharing system with all plants;
• Work closely with the Business Manager on steel market activities and capitalize any opportunities in steel buying with multiple plant locations;
• Assist the Sales Department in any steel purchasing related matters such as new orders, quotes or any special buys in accordance to project specification;
• Ensure the steel deliveries are in conjunction with the delivery requirement of the project;
• Work closely with the scheduling department on any movement of projects for the plant.

Required :

• Proven steel purchasing experience or equivalent supply chain experience;
• Experience with high levels of responsibility and decision making in pressure situations;
• Possess a self-starter quality for seeking input and details from resources;
• Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events;
• Must be proficient in Excel;
