Solar Project Manager

I’m partnered with a top electrical contractor in the C&I Solar space to help find a skilled Solar Project Manager for their growing team. They have been consistently named as one of Ohio’s top solar contractors for the past 40+ years. Some travel will be required to job sites throughout MI, PA, and OH, but there is flexibility to 1 day / week work from home.

This company is known for its quality-driven approach, long-standing relationships, and its status as an employee-owned firm. With projects ranging from $300K to $3M and a strong backlog, this is a stable and rewarding opportunity.

Job Duties:

  • Manage all materials, labor, and scheduling for commercial solar projects from kickoff to closeout.

  • Conduct site takeoffs, create procurement lists, and coordinate with the Procurement Officer to ensure materials are ordered accurately and on time.

  • Lead daily safety briefings and maintain site compliance with environmental and task-specific conditions.

  • Handle project documentation: change orders, progress reports, RFIs, labor tracking, and inspection coordination.

  • Ensure quality standards are met and that installations align with engineered plans.

  • Oversee site testing and commissioning of solar arrays, managing all steps through permit closeout.

  • Manage 2–4 active projects at once (totaling 5–8 per year).

  • Projects last 45 to 150 days and are located across MI, PA, and OH (prior work in IL, IN, KY).

Requirements:

  • Experience leading crews on outdoor electrical or solar construction projects.

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code).

  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 and NABCEP Solar PV certificates are a strong plus.

  • Clean background and valid driver’s license required for multi-state travel.

  • Technical proficiency: Microsoft Office, email/text communication, interpreting technical drawings, project management software.

  • Bonus: Experience with heavy equipment or PV commissioning is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000

  • Bonuses:

    • Profit Sharing: ~$5,000–$15,000/year

    • Job Cost Incentive Program: ~$5,000–$25,000/year

  • Health: 70% employer-paid premium

  • Insurance: Paid life insurance ($10K), short-term & long-term disability

  • Time Off:

    • 7 paid holidays

    • 5 vacation days after 90 days

    • 10 vacation days after 1 year

    • 4 personal days per year
