Structural Design Engineer

They are currently hiring a Structural Design Engineer for one of their top-performing divisions in Norfolk, NE, where steel deck and joist products are manufactured for the construction industry.

-Base salary in the 75-95 range depending upon experience / P.E. certification, with bonus and profit sharing reliably combining to add an extra $15-20k /year in compensation.

Basic Job Functions:

Design Engineers at this firm specialize in the design and application of floor and roof systems comprised of open-web steel joists and steel deck. Your responsibilities will be to ensure that these products meet the design requirements for a wide range of structures with varying loading and environmental conditions. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design of steel structures and products while continuing to enhance capabilities, products, processes, and teammate development
  • Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project development, design, and fabrication
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external design professionals and customers
  • Become an engineering expert of products and assist specifiers and industry partners

This position is a salaried position plus ROA bonus. Occasional travel is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Safety is the most important part of all jobs; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a PE license

  • Leadership Presence and Courage – Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise.
  • Organizing, Planning and Prioritization – Developing specific goals and plans for organizing and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team. This includes efficient time management.

Preferences:

  • PE license and/or SE license
  • MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Willing to pursue higher leadership opportunities throughout the broader organization, which may require relocation in the future.
