Electrical Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Level 2 Automation Systems Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of automated systems and control solutions that enhance production efficiency, quality, and reliability. This role requires hands-on experience with industrial automation platforms and a strong foundation in electrical and control systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, test, and implement automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and motion control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation systems to improve production uptime and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality, and IT to support manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Assist in project planning, documentation, and commissioning of new equipment or system upgrades.
  • Ensure all automation systems comply with industry safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain technical documentation including system specifications, electrical schematics, and software backups.
  • Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in automation systems engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development tools.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc.).
  • Familiarity with electrical design and control panel layouts.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze and resolve complex automation issues.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with robotics (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA) and vision systems.
  • Knowledge of MES systems and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Must be able to work in and around industrial machinery.
  • Occasional travel may be required for commissioning or vendor collaboration.
