Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Industrial Manufacturing
Location: Lexington, NC
Pay: $43–$47/hr
Expected Annual Income: Approximately $90,000–$120,000 depending on experience
Schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off, 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights weekly
Overtime: Eligible, with 8 hours of built-in overtime per week
Bonus: Company wide profit sharing bonus – adds an additional 15–20% on top of expected annual income
Job Overview
A leading Fortune 100 industrial manufacturing company is hiring an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support heavy industrial production operations in Lexington, NC. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and production equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, welding/fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other heavy industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, drives, motors, shafts, couplings, belts, and rotating equipment.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including component replacement and system troubleshooting.
- Install, align, and maintain mechanical power transmission systems.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and basic machining work for equipment repair or modification.
- Use precision measuring tools to complete accurate alignment, repair, and installation work.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other industrial material handling equipment.
- Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation through CMMS software.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and safe work practices.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, millwright, or machine repair experience in a manufacturing, steel, chemical, recycling, or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, drives, and motors.
- Welding, cutting, fabrication, or machining experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and 3-phase equipment is a plus.
- Experience with CMMS systems is preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Background
- Heavy industrial maintenance experience.
- Millwright, machine repair, or industrial mechanic background.
- AWS welding certification, journeyman card, or related mechanical trade certification.
- Navy Machinist’s Mate or similar military mechanical training.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or formal training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, or related field.
- Experience in steel, metals, manufacturing, recycling, chemical, automotive, or high-volume production environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- $43–$47/hr depending on experience.

Schedule
This position works a 4 days on / 4 days off schedule with 12-hour shifts. The schedule rotates between day shift and night shift weekly and includes approximately 8 hours of built-in overtime per week.
