Electrical Maintenance Technician
Prince George, VA
A Fortune 100 steel manufacturing company in Prince George, VA is hiring an Electrical Maintenance Technician to support plant electrical systems, production equipment, controls, automation, and equipment reliability.
This is a hands-on role for an industrial electrician, maintenance electrician, plant electrician, or controls technician with strong troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
Compensation
Total Hourly Compensation: $45-50/hr
Estimated Annual Earnings: $100-120k + 15-25% annual profit-sharing bonus
Schedule
Day Shift: 5:45 AM – 3:15 PM
Night Shift: 2:45 PM – 12:50 AM
Rotating shift environment
Occasional Saturdays may be required; Sundays are rare
Must be willing to work both shifts to be considered for this role.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems
- Work with motors, motor starters, VFDs, soft starters, MCCs, control panels, and electrical enclosures
- Support 480V / 277V / 120V power distribution systems
- Troubleshoot PLC systems, I/O, sensors, HMI interfaces, and basic ladder logic
- Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line drawings
- Troubleshoot automation equipment, safety circuits, interlocks, encoders, and production line controls
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and control systems
- Assist with startup, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects
- Document electrical work, repairs, PMs, and equipment changes
What We’re Looking For
- 2-year degree in Industrial Electrical Technology, Electrical Maintenance, or a related field
OR
- 3+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience safely working with voltage up to 600V
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- Ladder logic familiarity
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience with motors, VFDs, starters, sensors, and control panels
- Basic computer skills, including CMMS usage
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and on-call support as needed
Preferred Experience
- Controls or automation exposure
- Multi-craft maintenance background
- Continuous line manufacturing experience
- Hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical troubleshooting knowledge
- Military electrical or technical maintenance backgrounds are encouraged to apply
