Industrial Electrical Technician Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial production equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems
• Diagnose and repair PLCs, motors, VFDs, drives, controls, sensors, and industrial electrical equipment
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation systems
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and components
• Perform electrical testing and equipment diagnostics to identify root causes of failures
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
• Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to reduce equipment downtime
• Support preventive maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and follow established procedures
• Follow all OSHA, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety requirements

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing, steel, metals, recycling, or another heavy industrial environment
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs
• Knowledge of industrial controls, automation, and electrical systems
• Experience with AC/DC motors, motor controls, VFDs, and drives
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safe work practices and a strong safety mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field
• Journeyman Electrician license
• Military electrical or electronics experience, including U.S. Navy Nuclear training
• Experience working with high-voltage electrical systems
• Experience with industrial automation and controls
• Previous lead technician, team lead, or maintenance leadership experience
