We are seeking an Electrical Technician to join a Fortune 150 steel manufacturing facility in Bourbonnais, Illinois. This is a strong opportunity for an electrical maintenance professional who wants to work hands-on with PLCs, variable frequency drives, electrical controls, and power distribution equipment while supporting plant reliability and production.
This role supports production operations by diagnosing electrical equipment problems, maintaining controls and power systems, and completing electrical upgrades in an industrial environment. The team is looking for an electrician with sound technical fundamentals who puts safety first and contributes to quality, productivity, and equipment performance.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, PLCs, and associated plant equipment.
- Apply electrical maintenance knowledge to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
- Support maintenance and upgrades to electrical control systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical power distribution and protection equipment.
- Develop and promote safe practices for maintaining plant equipment.
- Support the facility’s safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives.
- Uphold safety procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a diploma, degree, or certification program in the electrical field OR at least two years of electrical maintenance experience involving PLCs, VFDs, and controls.
- Ability to demonstrate and uphold safe work practices and housekeeping standards.
Preferred:
- Previous industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- Two- or four-year degree in Electrical Technology or Electrical Engineering.
Compensation & Schedule
- Compensation: Current electricians average $138,000/year; hourly rate + production bonus is anywhere from $45-50/hr (based on experience and team fit).
- Bonus: Production bonus based on quality tons produced and paid weekly; annual profit sharing also offered (~20% historical average).
- Schedule: Shift position; DuPont schedule
