Senior Logistics Coordinator

We are seeking a Senior Logistics Coordinator to join a growing manufacturing operation in Birmingham, Alabama. This role is ideal for a logistics or supply chain professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where coordination, communication, and problem-solving are critical to operational success.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring raw materials and finished products move efficiently throughout the facility while partnering with production, shipping, sales, transportation providers, and customers. Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating transportation, inventory movement, production scheduling support, and shipment planning to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating across several departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to support production schedules and customer deliveries
- Schedule and release freight using transportation management and ERP systems
- Monitor inventory movement, production status, and shipping schedules across multiple platforms
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, customers, and internal departments regarding shipment scheduling and availability
- Coordinate transportation capacity and resolve shipping issues to minimize operational disruptions
- Assist with freight coordination, carrier communication, and transportation cost management
- Maintain accurate logistics documentation and ensure data integrity within ERP and transportation systems
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports and production schedules
- Work cross-functionally to resolve inventory, production, and shipping discrepancies
- Promote and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field OR a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, supply chain, or manufacturing coordination
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety, accountability, and operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related discipline
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial supply chain operations
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
- Transportation scheduling and carrier management experience
- Experience coordinating freight, negotiating rates, or managing transportation capacity
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, tracking, and data analysis
